A Better Place: A Girl Scout Gold Award

Hosted and Produced by

Serene Haroon

Serene Haroon is a girl scout Ambassador of Troop 647 in Northeast Texas. Recently she started working toward completing her Gold Award Project. For her project, she focused on educating girls her age about emergency preparedness.

The first part of her project was to make and deliver over 300 face masks to local hospitals in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. She saw a shortage of personal protective equipment in her area and decided to do something about it!

In the second part of her project, Serene created a digital escape room to educate participants about emergency preparedness using Microsoft PowerPoint and contacted panelists knowledgeable about emergency preparedness to be a part of a question and answer session. Then, she put together an virtual event over ZOOM.

Join Serene as she discusses her project and gives listeners insight into how to recreate the project she put together.
